Washington Township Police Department located in Franklin County, Pennsylvania will be establishing a Police Officer Eligibility list to fill open positions for patrol officers.

Physical Fitness Exam is scheduled for Saturday March 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m..  The physical fitness exam will consist of passing the 4 components listed below following the Municipal Police Officers Education and Training Commission Police Academy Entrance Standards.

  • 1 Minute Sit-up
  • 300 Meter Run
  • 1 Minute Push-Up
  • 1.5 Mile Run

Any applicant passing the Physical Fitness Exam will be invited to attend the Written Exam, scheduled for Saturday, March 16, 2024, at 1:00 p.m (or earlier).

The successful candidate must:

  • be at least 21 years of age prior to completing the academy
  • possess a valid driver’s license
  • must reside within 50 miles of Washington Township Police Department
  • possess a diploma from an accredited high school or a GED
  • pass physical fitness exam, pass written test & pass oral board interview
  • pass physical exam & drug screen, psychological exam, vision exam; visit MPOETC for all requirements
  • pass thorough background exam & credit check
  • if NOT currently Act 120 Certified, must be able to attend and successfully complete the educational requirements to become Act 120 certified by attending the Police Academy  (starts July 2024)

Washington Township Police Department offers a starting salary in 2024, under the current contract, of $58,202.05 along with an excellent benefit package and retirement plan.

CHIEF OF POLICE – NOW ACCEPTING RESUMES

Washington Township, Franklin County, Pennsylvania is accepting resumes from qualified candidates for the position of Chief of Police. The Township is a thriving residential and commercial community which encompasses 40 square miles and a population of 14,500. The Police Department is currently comprised of 11 full-time Officers, which include1 Officer in Charge, 1 Corporal, 1 Detective, 1 Patrolman First Class and 7 patrol Officers.

Qualified Candidates will have:

  1. Experience – Minimum 15 years full-time police experience with BS/BA in police or criminal justice administration or a related field from accredited college or university OR,
  2. Experience – Minimum 12 years full-time police experience with MS in police or criminal justice administration or a related field from accredited college or university, AND,
  3. Certified or eligible for waiver under PA Municipal Police Officer Education and Training Commission (Act 120) AND,
  4. Minimum 5 years supervisory experience.

Salary Range: $90,000 – $100,000 annually
