Commonwealth Code Inspection Service, Inc. (CCIS) manages and conducts the Township's building inspection program. Construction in Washington Township requires that certain inspections be completed during the building process. Some additional inspections are performed by Washington Township officers for the purpose of ensuring compliance with “land use permit” requirements. In June 2004 Washington Township adopted "The Pennsylvania Construction Code Act", which requires that most construction projects within the township have their plans reviewed and inspections performed by a qualified building or construction code official. Commonwealth Code Inspection Service, Inc. will hold office hours in the Washington Township Meeting Room located at 13013 Welty Road on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. for those residents whom are unable to travel to the Chambersburg office.
CCIS has been contracted by the Township to review plans and specifications for building projects, issue “construction permits”, and enforce any building code violations to ensure Washington Township ’s compliance with the Pennsylvania Uniform Construction Code (PA UCC).
After obtaining your “land use permit” from the Township office at 13013 Welty Road in Waynesboro , you should contact CCIS directly, during their regular business hours from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., to obtain your “construction permit” prior to beginning construction. You must then contact a qualified inspection official to schedule inspection appointments for the inspection of plumbing, mechanical, electrical phases of your project during construction process. CCIS can answer any questions you have about the "construction permit", and qualified inspectors can address questions about the inspection process.
