Washington Township public water and sewer is served by two separate authorities - Washington Township Municipal Authority (WTMA) and Waynesboro Borough Authority (WBA). Each authority serves particular areas of the township and it is possible to be served by WBA water and WTMA sewer or vice versa. While one authority serves both water and sewer for some homes, other serving areas sometimes split developments and are difficult to describe in a paragraph. A general township map is planned to show the separate water and sewer authority connections available.

It should also be pointed out that individual wells and septic systems are widely used in the township countryside and some areas do have only public water available or only public sewer available. The options are varied and generally suit the needs of the people and housing arrangements. Depending on the distance from water and sewer service in the rural or village areas connections may be mandatory. Check with your township office or authority to determine what options are applicable.
