Census 2010

Please complete your census form and return it immediately upon receiving it in the mail!

You will be receiving your census form in the mail from the Census Bureau sometime toward the end of March.  Please take a few minutes to complete the form and return it to the Census Bureau in the mailer provided.

Everyone talkes about trying to save tax dollars.  Well, here is your chance to help!  By completeing the form and mailing it back to the Census Bureau, you will be saving the government money because follow-up visits to your residence will not be required.  Think of the savings that would occur if everyone completes their forms and mails them back.

The U.S. Census Bureau is hiring temporary workers to be Census Takers and Field Supervisors for the 2010 Census. Pay ranges from $11.75 to $14.75 per hour. Part-time and full-time temporary positions are available. For more information, call 1-866-861-2010.

American Odyssey Relay

Again this year the race will run from Gettysburg to Washington, D.C., traveling through Waynesboro on April 23rd from approximately 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

Vendors will be set up along the race route in Waynesboro. If anyone is interested in being a vendor contact Ann Backer at (717) 762-3107 with the Rouzerville Business Association.

American Odyssey is looking for volunteers to help with the race. If you are interested in volunteering information can be found on their website.

Battle of Monterey Pass

In February the Washington Township Supervisors agreed to accept tax deductible donations and manage those funds for the development of the masterplan for the Battle of Monterey Pass in Blue Ridge Summit, including exploring the possibility of purchasing land to provide additional locations for monuments and markers.  All funding will be placed in a separate account and used only to support this very worthwhile project.

Checks should be made payable to Washington Township and can be sent to or dropped off at the township office.

If you are interested in assisting the committee with the project, you may attend their next meeting at the township office on March 18th at 6:30 p.m. Please visit the Monterey Pass Battlefield Association's web site for more information.

To learn more about the Battle of Monterey Pass, plan on attending the upcoming Montaintop Community Fair in Blue Ridge Summit on March 20th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
